Michael Page has received a Scientist Development Grant from the National Program of the American Heart Association to support four years of research to build artificial blood clotting factors and better reagents to speed this process. He was also awarded the Young Investigator Award from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis to attend their annual congress in Boston where he will present a talk describing the development of a synthetic clotting factor using protein engineering. |

Alaji Bah, has been awarded the 2009 Etter Student Lecturer award from the ACA and has been invited to present his work within the “Structural Enzymology" session at the forthcoming 2009 ACA meeting in Toronto. Alaji has engineered a thrombin variant that is active only in the anticoagulant pathway and has potential clinical relevance. He was able to solve the structure of this variant at high resolution and elucidate its peculiar conformation. |
